Ask AI about this guide

CCELL M3 instructions depend on which M3 you hold, because the range mixes inhale-activated pens with button batteries. The M3 Plus fires on inhale and uses a two-position heat switch, while the M3B Plus is button activated, with taps for power, voltage and preheat. We do not stock the M3 range, so we only state what ccell.com confirms.

Where a detail is not published, we say so plainly and point you to the leaflet that came with your battery. We also set out the M4 batteries we do stock as the current slim 510 option, and how to check which M3 you actually have.

Key takeaways

  • ccell.com confirms the M3B Plus: five taps for power, three taps for voltage, two taps for a 10 second preheat.
  • The M3 Plus is a no-button pen with a slide switch for two heat levels, 2.8V and 3.3V.
  • ccell.com has no page we could load for the original M3 or M3B, and none for an M3B Pro.
  • No light-colour key is published, so a flashing green light has no confirmed meaning.
  • We stock the M4, M4B Pro and M4 Tiny, not the M3 range.

CCELL M3 instructions: how to use an M3 or M3B

You use an M3-series battery by screwing a 510 cartridge onto the thread, then drawing on an inhale-activated model or pressing the button on a button model. For CCELL M3B how to use questions, the B in M3B is how the button versions are told apart from the no-button pens.

We found no manuals or downloads page on ccell.com. For a CCELL M3B user manual, the leaflet packed with your battery is the best source, and a search for a CCELL M3B Pro manual will not return an official page.

Which M3 do you have?

Check the body before you try any sequence. The M3 Plus is a 12mm stainless steel pen with a slide switch and no button. The M3B Plus is a 14mm full metal battery with a single function button.

  • Slide switch, no button: treat it as an M3 Plus style pen and use the L and H positions.
  • One button: treat it as a button battery and read the leaflet before pressing.
  • No markings: check the packaging or the supplier sheet for the model name.

Inhale-activated M3 pens

CCELL M3 battery instructions for this style are short, and the M3 Plus is the verified example. ccell.com describes an airflow sensor that fires the battery as soon as you inhale, with a slide switch between its two heat settings and no button.

  1. Screw a standard 510 cartridge onto the thread until it is snug.
  2. Slide the switch to the heat level you want.
  3. Draw on the mouthpiece.
  4. Charge over Type-C when the battery runs low.

Button-activated M3B batteries

The M3B Plus is the verified button model. ccell.com says it switches on and off with five button taps, and that you fire it with a single press and hold once it is on. Both operations are there to stop unintended firing in a pocket and use by minors.

  1. Screw the cartridge on until snug.
  2. Tap the button five times to switch the battery on.
  3. Choose a voltage with three quick taps.
  4. Press and hold to draw.
  5. Tap five times again to switch it off.

Those CCELL M3B instructions are published for the M3B Plus only. For an older M3B, check the leaflet in the box, because a count learned on one model is not a safe assumption for another.

M3, M3B, M3 Plus and M3B Pro compared

The table lists what ccell.com for the M3B Plus and the M3 Plus page confirm, and marks everything else as not listed.

Model Activation Voltage control
M3 Not listed Not listed
M3B Not listed Not listed
M3 Plus Inhale activated, no button Slide switch, 2.8V or 3.3V
M3B Plus Button activated Three taps cycle 2.8V, 3.2V, 3.6V
M3B Pro Not listed Not listed

Size and capacity separate the two verified models. The M3 Plus is 350mAh in a 12mm stainless steel body, 86.4mm long. The M3B Plus is 550mAh in a 14mm full metal body, 88.3mm long, built to take cartridges of any size, from 0.5ml to 2ml or larger.

ccell.com lists pages for the M3 and M3B, but they returned a server error when we checked in November 2026. There is no M3B Pro page on ccell.com, so we cannot confirm that name or its specification.

M3B heat settings and voltage

The CCELL M3B heat settings are three voltages on the M3B Plus, 2.8V, 3.2V and 3.6V, and you move between them by tapping the button three times in quick succession. The LED lights show which setting you chose, though ccell.com does not publish which colour belongs to which step.

Lower voltage heats the coil more gently and suits flavour. Higher voltage gives more vapour and suits thicker oil. CCELL describes the steps as flavour, a happy medium, and vapour.

CCELL M3 voltage on the M3 Plus is a simpler choice. Its slide switch gives two positions: L for flavour, and H for larger clouds without a burnt taste. That is a lower-control design than three voltage steps, but it is easy to explain to a customer.

Thin oil and leak-prone cartridges generally behave better at the lower steps. Thick oil may need a preheat first, then one step up, rather than the top step straight away.

Start at 2.8V, run a few draws, and move up only if the oil needs more heat. Our guide to voltage settings by oil type covers which voltage suits which extract, so we do not repeat it here.

Preheat is separate. Two quick taps run a 10 second preheat on the M3B Plus, which CCELL says frees up a cartridge clog. On the M3 Plus the heat switch is the only control: L is the flavour setting and H gives larger clouds.

Charging an M3 or M3B

CCELL M3 charging instructions are short, and both verified models charge over a modern port: the M3 Plus uses Type-C and the M3B Plus uses USB-C. We cannot confirm the port on the original M3 or M3B, so check the connector on your unit before you buy a cable.

Any good 5V USB source works as a CCELL M3 charger. Use a sound cable, disconnect when the battery is full, and avoid charging overnight. We do not publish a charge time or a light-while-charging key, because ccell.com does not list one.

  1. Connect the cable to the port and to a known 5V source.
  2. Watch the indicator. Its colour code is model specific.
  3. Disconnect once the battery reads full.

Stop using a battery that is hot, swollen or damaged, and do not charge it again. If charging fails on a healthy unit, work through these checks:

  • Remove the cartridge before you charge if oil is on the thread.
  • Wipe the cartridge contact and the battery pin with a dry cloth.
  • Try a second cable and power source before you blame the cell.

Our 510 battery charging guide gives the full routine, and the guide to CCELL batteries that will not charge covers failures.

What the M3B lights mean, including flashing green

ccell.com says only that the M3B Plus LED lights show which voltage you have chosen. It publishes no blink code and no colour key, so we cannot tell you what CCELL M3B flashing green means.

Treat any flash as a status signal and read it by timing. Colour meanings are model specific, and a pattern that means low charge on one battery can mean something else on another.

When it flashes Common cause First check
On a button press Low charge or battery locked Charge, then tap five times to switch on
During a draw Poor cartridge contact Wipe the thread and pin dry
After a few seconds Protection cut-out Release, wait, draw in shorter pulls
While plugged in Charge state or loose cable Reseat the cable on a known 5V source

Nothing on the battery side happens without charge, so rule out a flat cell before you read anything into a light. Oil bridging the pin can also cause a fault signal on a 510 battery, and it often clears when you clean the contact.

If the button does nothing, remember the lock. The M3B Plus switches off with five taps, and a battery that has been switched off can look dead. Our guide to CCELL battery blinking patterns lists the full set by timing.

M3 or M4: what to stock now

We stock the M4 range, not the M3 range. ccell.com does not call the M4 a successor to the M3, so we do not either; we simply offer the M4 batteries as the current slim stainless steel 510 option.

Battery Capacity Voltage and extras
CCELL M4 battery 290mAh Fixed output, Standard 3.6V or Bespoke 2.6V
CCELL M4B Pro battery 290mAh 2.8V, 3.2V, 3.6V, 10 second preheat, power lock
CCELL M4 Tiny battery 200mAh No voltage steps, 14 x 52mm body

If you fill cartridges for a brand that shipped with M3 batteries, check the cartridge diameter against the replacement before you reorder, because the body sizes differ.

Which M4 you choose depends on the job:

  • M4: a plain pen for a programme that tests one oil at one fixed output.
  • M4B Pro: the step-up for brands that want selectable voltage, preheat and a lock.
  • M4 Tiny: a short 14mm battery for compact kits, with a 200mAh cell.

Moving from an M3-series battery to an M4-series battery changes a few practical points for a brand:

  • Cartridge fit: the M3B Plus takes cartridges of any size, while the M4 and M4B Pro have a 10.5mm body and are listed for cartridges up to 14mm.
  • Controls: the M4 has no controls at all, and only the M4B Pro adds voltage steps, preheat and a lock.
  • Leaflets: print new instructions for the M4 model, because tap counts are not shared between batteries.
  • Charging: the M4 range charges over USB-C.

The M4B Pro is the closest in function to the M3B Plus, with three voltage steps, a 10 second preheat and a child-resistant lock. It is slimmer at 10.5mm and has a smaller cell at 290mAh. Our M4B Pro, M4 and Go Stik comparison sets out the differences.

People also search for a CCELL M3 review or a CCELL M3 Plus review. We do not sell either, so we have no hands-on review to offer and will not invent one. Browse our CCELL 510 battery category for current stock, and ask our team about trade quantities.

FAQ

How do I change the voltage on a CCELL M3B?

On the M3B Plus, tap the button three times in quick succession to move between 2.8V, 3.2V and 3.6V; the LED lights show your choice. ccell.com publishes that sequence for the M3B Plus only. For an older M3B or an M3B Pro, follow the leaflet supplied with your battery.

Why is my M3B flashing green?

We cannot confirm what flashing green means on an M3B, because ccell.com publishes no blink code or colour key. Read the pattern by timing instead. A flash on a press often means low charge or a locked battery, and a flash during a draw often means poor cartridge contact.

How do I charge a CCELL M3?

Plug the battery into a known 5V USB source with a sound cable and disconnect once it is full. The M3 Plus charges over Type-C. The port on the original M3 is not listed on ccell.com, so check the connector on your unit before you choose a cable.

Is the CCELL M3 inhale activated?

The M3 Plus is inhale activated, and ccell.com describes an airflow sensor and a no-button design. We cannot confirm the activation of the original M3 from ccell.com. The M3B Plus is different: it is button activated, with five taps to switch on and a press and hold to fire.

Is the M3 Plus the same as the M3B?

No, they are separate listings on ccell.com. The M3 Plus is a 350mAh inhale-activated pen with a switch for 2.8V or 3.3V, while the M3B Plus is a 550mAh button battery with three voltage steps, a 10 second preheat and a child-resistant lock.

Does 3DevicesCCELL sell the M3?

No, we do not stock the M3 range. We supply the CCELL M4, M4B Pro and M4 Tiny as slim stainless steel 510 batteries, alongside the Palm Pro, Fino and Stylo. Trade pricing is shown on each product page, and our team can advise on a trade account.
