Ask AI about this guide

Knowing how to use CCELL battery controls takes about five minutes once you split the range by activation and settings. Every battery we stock fires on inhale, so you seat a 510 cartridge and draw, while a button, switch or dock handles preheat, voltage and the lock. All of them charge over USB-C.

Preheat is a 10 second warm-up on the Palm Pro, M4B Pro and Fino, and a 15 second version on the Stylo; the M4 lists none. Voltage runs from a fixed output to eight settings, and the press sequence differs by model.

Our team wrote the CCELL instructions below for the five batteries we stock: Palm Pro, M4B Pro, M4, Fino and Stylo.

Key takeaways

  • All five batteries fire on inhale, and the M4B Pro adds a child-resistant power lock that must be released first.
  • Preheat is 10 seconds on the Palm Pro, M4B Pro and Fino, 15 seconds on the Stylo, and not listed on the M4.
  • Voltage is 2.8V, 3.2V and 3.6V on the Palm Pro and M4B Pro, 2.4V, 2.8V and 3.2V on the Stylo, and eight steps on the Fino.
  • Every model here charges over USB-C, so no micro-USB cable is needed.
  • Start at the lowest voltage and move up one step at a time.

How do you use a CCELL battery?

You use a CCELL battery by fitting a 510 cartridge, choosing a voltage if the model has steps, preheating thick or cold oil when needed, and drawing on the mouthpiece, because every battery we stock is inhale activated. The order of the steps matters more than the model.

  1. Match the cartridge to the battery. A 510 thread fixes the screw fit only, not the diameter or resistance, so check the CCELL cartridge and battery compatibility notes before a new pairing.
  2. Fit the cartridge. On the M4, M4B Pro and Stylo, screw or press it in until snug. On the Palm Pro, fit a magnetic cartridge nut first; on the Fino, screw the cartridge into an included metal adapter, then drop it in.
  3. Release the lock. Only the M4B Pro has one, and a locked battery will not fire.
  4. Pick a voltage. Begin on the lowest step the model offers.
  5. Preheat if the oil is thick or cold. Skip it for thin, warm oil.
  6. Draw on the mouthpiece. Inhaling fires the battery, so no button is held down.
  7. Charge over USB-C when the light, bars or display show low charge.

Change one thing at a time. The Palm Pro also has an airflow collar, so write down the voltage and the collar position together, because both change the draw.

A CCELL how to use leaflet in the box should print the sequence for the exact battery a brand recommends, since press counts are not shared between models.

A short test pays off before you hand a battery to a customer. Fit the cartridge, run one preheat and two draws at the lowest voltage, then confirm the battery charges. If any step fails, the fault is usually contact or charge, not the battery.

Turning a CCELL battery on and off

An inhale-activated CCELL battery turns on when you draw, so the M4, Palm Pro, Fino and Stylo have no power button to learn. A sensor detects the airflow and fires the heater while you inhale.

Models with a power lock

The M4B Pro also fires on inhale, but it adds a child-resistant power lock. A locked battery will not fire, which makes it safer in a pocket or bag, and it is the first thing to rule out when a customer reports a dead battery.

Our product page tells buyers to release the lock using the method in the instructions supplied with the batch. We do not print a click count here, because we cannot confirm one from the product data.

Button-activated batteries elsewhere in the range

Some CCELL batteries work differently. The M3B Plus on ccell.com is button activated: it switches on and off with five taps and fires on a press and hold.

That is a separate design from the batteries we stock, and it shows why a click count learned on one model should never be assumed on another.

How to preheat a CCELL battery

CCELL preheat warms the cartridge for a fixed time before the first draw, so thick or cold oil loosens and reaches the ceramic core. Viscosity falls as oil warms, which is why a cold cartridge can feel stiff on the first pull.

CCELL says the 10 second preheat on the Palm Pro gives flavour from the first puff, even in cold weather. Here is how each model starts it:

  • Palm Pro: 10 seconds, started with two short presses of the button.
  • Fino: 10 seconds, started with one tap of the preheat button, with the battery seated in the dock.
  • M4B Pro: 10 seconds, with the button sequence set out in the supplied instructions.
  • Stylo: 15 seconds, started with the side button, alongside 15 second stable temperature heating.
  • M4 and M4 Tiny: no preheat listed.

Use it sparingly. Keep it for the first draw of a session, when the oil is coldest.

Preheat uses charge. A 290mAh M4B Pro empties faster than a 500mAh Palm Pro if every draw starts with a preheat, so keep it for cold or thick fills. It does not correct a cartridge that is the wrong match for the battery.

How to change the voltage

Voltage sets how hard the coil heats, so a lower step suits flavour and a higher step gives more vapour. CCELL describes 2.8V on the Palm Pro as maximum flavour, 3.2V as balanced and 3.6V as maximum vapour.

How you change it depends on the battery:

  • Palm Pro: one button and display handle voltage, preheat and charge level. We have no confirmed click count for the voltage step, so follow the supplied leaflet.
  • M4B Pro: three steps at 2.8V, 3.2V and 3.6V, set with the button sequence in the supplied instructions.
  • Fino: tap or hold the voltage button to move through eight settings from 2.2V to 3.6V in 0.2V steps. The battery must sit in the dock, and the dock LEDs show the active step.
  • Stylo: slide the switch on the base to 2.4V, 2.8V or 3.2V, and click it into a position rather than leaving it between settings.
  • M4: no user setting. The output is Standard 3.6V or Bespoke 2.6V, chosen when you order.

Write down the step that suits each of your oils. Because a voltage that suits one cartridge can scorch another, a record per product saves repeat testing when you order a new batch.

The light colour for each step varies by model. Neither our product pages nor ccell.com publish a colour key, so we do not print one.

For which voltage suits distillate, live resin or rosin, read our voltage settings guide rather than guessing from a colour.

How to use CCELL battery controls by model

The table sets out activation, voltage and preheat for the five CCELL battery 510 thread models we stock, using only what our product pages and ccell.com confirm.

Model Activation and voltage Preheat
CCELL Palm Pro battery Inhale. 2.8V, 3.2V, 3.6V with an airflow collar 10 seconds, two short presses
CCELL M4B Pro battery Inhale with power lock. 2.8V, 3.2V, 3.6V 10 seconds
CCELL M4 battery Inhale. Fixed output, Standard 3.6V or Bespoke 2.6V None listed
CCELL Fino battery Inhale. Eight steps, 2.2V to 3.6V, dock needed 10 seconds, one tap, dock needed
CCELL Stylo battery Inhale. 2.4V, 2.8V, 3.2V on a base switch 15 seconds, side button

Pick the battery by the job it has to do:

  • The Palm Pro suits brands that want airflow control and a 500mAh cell.
  • The M4B Pro suits ranges that need a lock and three voltage steps in a slim 10.5mm body.
  • The M4 suits programmes that test one oil at one fixed output.
  • The Fino suits fine tuning and portable charging, with a 1000mAh dock behind a 190mAh battery.
  • The Stylo suits wider cartridges up to 14mm and a screen that shows battery state.

Check the cartridge diameter against the battery before you promise a pairing. The Palm Pro takes cartridges up to 11mm, while the Stylo and M4B Pro are listed for cartridges up to 14mm. We have not confirmed a diameter limit for the Fino adapter.

Charging a CCELL battery

CCELL charging is the same across the batteries we stock: every one uses USB-C, which the Palm Pro lists as Type-C, so micro-USB cables do not apply. Use a known 5V source and a sound cable, disconnect once the battery is full, and avoid leaving it on charge overnight.

The charge indicator depends on the model. The Palm Pro has a 3-bar LED, the M4 and M4B Pro have an LED function indicator, the Stylo has a digital display, and the Fino shows battery level on LEDs in its dock. To charge a Fino, seat the mini battery in the dock and connect the USB-C cable to the dock.

We do not publish what each light colour means while charging, because the product data does not confirm it. If a battery refuses to charge, wipe oil from the cartridge thread and contact first.

  1. Take the cartridge off if oil is on the thread, and wipe the contact.
  2. Connect a sound USB-C cable to a known 5V source.
  3. Watch the indicator for the charge state on your model.
  4. Disconnect once it shows full, and let a hot battery cool before use.

Our 510 battery charging guide covers the full routine, and the USB and USB-C charger guide explains cables and power sources.

Mistakes that shorten battery life

A CCELL vape battery is a lithium cell, and it lasts longest when it is charged, heated and stored within its limits. These are the habits our team sees most often:

  • Pairing the wrong cartridge resistance. Ohms and voltage work together, and a mismatch makes the battery work harder or the oil taste harsh.
  • Running maximum voltage on thick oil. Preheat and a lower step usually treat a stiff fill better than the top setting.
  • Preheating every draw. It drains a small cell quickly and adds nothing once the oil is warm.
  • Leaving the battery on charge overnight. Disconnect at full, and stop if it feels hot.
  • Letting oil sit on the 510 pin. A film on the contact can mimic a dead cell and cause repeat faults.
  • Over-tightening the cartridge. Screw it on until snug, then stop, because force can damage the thread and the contact.
  • Using a cable of unknown quality. A poor cable or an unknown power source can charge slowly or not at all.
  • Storing in a hot car or direct sun. Heat shortens the life of any lithium cell.

FAQ

How do I turn on my CCELL battery?

Most CCELL batteries we stock need no switching on, because they fire when you inhale on the mouthpiece. The exception is the M4B Pro, which has a child-resistant power lock that must be released first, using the method in the instructions supplied with your batch. A locked battery will not fire.

How do I preheat a CCELL battery?

Press the preheat control for your model and wait for the cycle to finish before drawing. On the Palm Pro that is two short presses for 10 seconds, on the Fino one tap with the battery in the dock, and on the Stylo the side button for 15 seconds. The M4 has no preheat listed.

What do the CCELL voltage colours mean?

Voltage light colours differ by model, and neither our product pages nor ccell.com publish a colour key, so we do not guess one. Use the supplied instructions for your batch. On the Fino, the dock LEDs show the active step, and on the Stylo the base switch positions are 2.4V, 2.8V and 3.2V.

How long does a CCELL battery take to charge?

We cannot give a verified charging time, because neither our product pages nor ccell.com list one. Capacity ranges from 190mAh on the Fino to 500mAh on the Palm Pro and Stylo. Charge on a known 5V USB-C source, watch the indicator, and disconnect once it shows full.

What does TC SS mean on a vape?

The TC SS vape meaning is temperature control with a stainless steel coil, a mode on box mods that reads coil resistance and limits temperature. CCELL 510 batteries have no TC modes. They set heat by voltage, such as 2.8V, 3.2V or 3.6V, and the ceramic heating core sits inside the cartridge.

Why is my CCELL battery blinking?

A blink is a status signal, often low charge, poor cartridge contact or a protection cut-out, and the meaning depends on the model and the timing. Charge the battery, wipe the cartridge contact and retest. Our CCELL battery blinking guide lists the patterns by timing.
